This Saturday’s Youth Rally was really fun. Here’s how it went…
I woke up early to get ready to go to La Vang.
Once I got there, I signed in and hung around with the crew until in was time to go. The boys were on bus 266 and the girls were one the other buses. The bus ride there wasn’t that interesting. But Louis did bring his computer and we watched “Scott Pilgrim vs. the World.” It’s a really funny movie, haha…
Once we got there, we saw David. After talking a bit, we went to sign in there and got our name tags, group assignments, and our shirts. Our shirts were pretty B.A.
We got our shirts and the JAM was going on so, we stood around and waited for everyone else. We got in a big line and started swaying. I walked around and stuff. Got stuff to eat, drink, and what-not.
Then, the actual program started and we got split into two big groups for a warm-up cheer I suppose. Haha…
Then, after that, we got into our 34 groups. I was in group 30. We then watched tons of powerpoints and listened to many people talk. It wasn’t that bad, haha… But it was kinda boring.
After the powerpoints, we went into our groups again and sat in a circle and had a failed group discussion. But, while in the group, I met a girl that knew people from my school. She’s cool I guess. But yeah, it was an alright discussion.
Then, Tuan went up to speak on how he became a TNTT leader. Good story I suppose.
After that, we went into the auditorium to listen to how a nun became a nun. She was born the 10th child. She had polio (teardrop) and her parents moved them there to find a cure. She went to school, college, and but didn’t know what to do. So, she became a nun because she wanted to be the best teacher there was. Ah…
After, we went back to the gym for adoration. It was long and we had to kneel on the floor. It hurt. After that, we had a jam and we did the swaying in a line thing. It was fun :D
After the jam, we sat with out groups and ate lunch.
After lunch, we watched more power points.
After that, we watched some skits and stuff. Then the boys and the girls went into seperate parts and had Q and A. There were some good questions. And good answers from the priests, brothers, and Frere Phong. And an answer that just broke my heart…
Frere Phong went to Cambodia to free some sex slaves. These poor girls were $200 per girl, but like $25 for the whole night. They lived horrible lives… So, Frere Phone gave them a pencil and paper to write with. The first thing they did was turn it up-side-down and ate the eraser… THEY ATE THE ERASER! They thought it was some kind of candy… Frere Phone teared up, and I was just heart broken…
When the girls came back, we had a quiz for prizes. I got a prize! I got a $25 gift card to Starbucks. Oh yes. Then, we got split in half for story time from the student attending. There was one story that really stood out:
It was from a guy that goes to my church. This guy wasn’t planning to go to the youth rally because he thought there was stuff better to do. He said he was glad he could make it because well, he was supposed to die 3 days (now 4) ago. He made a bad bet, so people were going to kill him. In those three days, he apologized and forgave people. Went to confession and skipped work and went to church. He didn’t want to be sinful. But, his boys were going to mark them before they could mark him. But he called it off. When asleep, he was approached by an angel and she told him that he is getting another chance… It was a good story, you had to be there. I killed it.
But after the stories, we went to church.
After church, we were going to watch another show thing. But, as they were trying to get it up and running, the students went up to tell jokes. Louis went up and did an opening for me. “How much does a polar bear weigh?” “ENOUGH TO BREAK THE ICE!” LOL! But when I went up, Father Dat asked me, “What’s your name?” “Scott.” I said. The crowd was cheering! Haha, oh how I felt loved. But my joke was, “What do you call two Asians verus eachother?” I waited… Me and Louis yelled, “A NGUYEN-NGUYEN SITUATION!” The crowd laughed their asses off. It was amazing.
After that, we went home. The bus ride back was fun. We kept watching Scott Pilgrim.
Got to church, then went home. Basically it. Good shit.
Peace and love,
Scott
